I'M STARVING !!!

I had my laparoscopic bypass surgery 10/10/05. Everything was going GREAT until Saturday afternoon. All of a sudden I was STARVING, and I'm still STARVING. I really freaked. Called my doc's office today. She says this is a "normal" reaction to the surgery. How come no one told me about this beforehand? I was caught completely off guard. I thought that after the surgery you had NO APPETITE. Has this happened to any of you, and what did you do to keep strictly to the "rules." Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Esther: I thought this was only me. I haven't talked to any others that were hungry after surgery. I personally was begging Dr. Wynn for food the day of my discharge. I had surgery on a Tuesday and went home on Friday. Dr. Wynn allowed me to start pureed a day sooner and what a difference that made. I did keep strictly to the rules during the pureed period but it did seem as though I was eating all the time. I am now at three months out and I have no appetite at all. I have to push myself to eat. Things will change. I hope this helps. Kim S
