Ok, here is the scoop. Dr. Wynn started with the lap. & while in the middle of that she found some things that needed to be fixed first. So....needless to say I had to have an open procedure. 1st: my small intestines were wrapped in a sac (most likely adhesions) and that had to be removed. 2nd: the proxmal end of the small intestines were twisted and needed to be disected, untwisted, & then reattached. 3rd: my appendix was not located where it was supposed to be so she removed it to prevent problems later. Post op day 2 (day of discharge) and there is alot of pain and blood work is coming back showing signs of infection. Well, I also started having elevated temps too. A day later, incision site is turning red. Not a good sign. Here it is the weekend and they tell me that I have a UTI and I probably have a wound infection. So Dr. Wynn sends me down to CT scan to get checked out. I have fluid under the incision site and it needs to come out. Ok. I am scheduled to have a drain put in on Wed. 10-11-05. I am NPO at midnight and they end up not taking me down until 5pm. Even a clear liquid diet is great at that time. During the procedure the doctor drains 500ccs of yoohoo color liquid & puts another bag on and it drains 300 ccs of more liquid by the time I got back to my room. And talk about stink (whew). Well, it is infection drainage. So, now I am on new antibiotics and draining it out. I pray things are going to be better now and I can go home soon. Still having problems walking due to back problems too, but with physical therapy I should be doing better. So that is it in a nutshell so far. Will keep you updated. Jo

Hi Joanne, sorry to hear of all the trouble but like Debbie says it does smooth out. We all also knew all of the risks that there were going into this surgery. Later on we can look at it and say it was well worth it. Christie
