CHRIAS?Venting
Hello everyone! I need to make an appointment with Dr. Irgau's group and was wondering how long it took them to make an appointment. I mean from your initial phone call to your actual appointment? Initially, I was going to have my surgery with Barix Clinics but after 3 days and going back and forth between BCBS and my employer ,I found out i have to have my surgery done at Christiana Hospital. I'm a Christiana employee, so there's some kind of "clause" with us, so that's where I stand. Very frustrated because I have to start all over again with the whole process and I couldn't get a straight answer on where I had to get the surgery. At this point, I'll get the surgery on the moon if BCBS offers it. Sorry....just had to vent
Hello,
I have read that it took a while to get an appointment with them for some people.
I got lucky, I called and got an appointment within a few weeks.
HOWEVER...I had my consult in MAY and I have not done anything else.
I need to have all my clearances, take PMRI classes and everything in between. I just don't have that PUSH that I need to get the ball rolling. I read people's profiles and look at photos and promise myself to just call and make appointments but I never do.
One of these days....
Anyway, good luck.
Hi!
For me the process was pretty fast. I already had a cardiologist and pulmonologist to get clearances for my heart and lungs, so that took a good part of the wait out of the picture. I also had already scheduled to have an EGD for something else, so I didn't have to wait for that either. I had my first appointment in April and was scheduled for surgery in late June. Then they called me and moved it back to early July, then I had to move it to mid-August. All-in-all it was a lot faster than I expected. Dr. Irgau performed the surgery, but honestly, I have not met any of the staff at CHRIAS that I didn't like, everyone has been very helpful. Good luck!!! If you have any questions, just ask. Everyone here on this forum are extremely helpful as well.
Take care!
Cathy
I called for initial appt in early feb, got in end of march (6 weeks), finished all of my clearences May 23, could've had surgery June 22 but was going on Vacation so scheduled surgery for July 13. I am down 50 pounds as of this morning! I have seen one of the new doctors (Dr. Jedali) during my recovery. I have another appointment with him on the 20th. He is very sweet. Every bit as nice as the original doctors. And I'm sure just as skilled. I don't think Irgau & Wynn would allow anyone without the highest qualifications in their practice. They've worked very hard to obtain their stellar reputations and wouldn't risk it by bringing in someone who cannot stand up to the standard of care that they've set. Go ahead and call. You shouldn't have any problem getting an appointment now. Don't be afraid to see one of the new doctors. Rest assured that either Irgau, Wynn or Peters will also be in the operating room too.
Good Luck
Dee
