Team Gastric finishes 150 miles on Sunday.
Dwight and I finished the MS 150 Bike to the Bay ride today. 150 miles and a great pledge card for MS.
On Saturday, we got started in the second group of 100 riders and did the first fourty miles in under two hours. We actually lost track of each other during the ride, but rode in together at the finish line. We finished the first day (77 miles) in just under 5 hours. Probably could have done better but headwinds, a few equipment malfunctions and a bad knee got in the way.
There were a lot of maniacs out there on Saturday. I got pushed by one of the maniacs and tore up my knee. Four other riders went down with me but they only suffered minor bruises. Three of them went tearing after the hit-and-run artist but I don't know if they caught him or not. There were a lot of accidents along the way, some severe. The good weather and higher speeds led to a lot of careless bike riding.
On Sunday, Dwight and I got started at 7am and found a couple of good pace lines and rode back to Dover in 4 hours and 30 minutes. Sunday was uneventful but it was more difficult ride with a bad knee. Dwight kept me rolling along at a good clip.
With the ride completed it is time to look for another goal and challenge to keep me motivated.
Thanks to all the gastic bypass people who supported me financially and mentally. Oct 6 is my two year anniversary and I am now at goal weight and BMI (and still can afford to lose a couple more pounds). What a phenomenal two years. Good times, good health, great family and friends, and a super life.
Your cycling bud.
