I've been denied

I just wanted to let everyone know that I was denied today by my insurance company. I am working with them but I don't think I will be able to have surgery until I meet the 12 months supervised diet history. I am very upset right now. I can't believe this is happening. Sharon B

Didn't they tell you that when you first contacted them about the surgery? Have you been on a supervised diet since you started this journey? If you have, then you shouldn't have to wait the full 12 months. Keep your head up, things happen for a reason. Dee

sharon i am so sorry to hear this but don't give up ok fight them with everything you got you deserve this as much as anyone else and you will get it when it is the right time god knows what is best ok i will keep you in my thoughts and prayers your friend vickie

Sharon, Hey, I wanted to tell you how sorry I am to hear what happened to you. I believe you have BCBS PPO DE, I have that too. I am scared that they will deny me as well. I have had this feeling in the back of my head all along. Does that meant that all of the money you have paid for classes and all is a waiste? That is horrible. I have BCBS DE PPO and had no trouble getting approved on the first try. They don't require 12 months of supervised diet. They require that you have a BMI of over 40 and I think 2 co-morbidities, and of course all of the clearances. That's for the RNY. They do not cover Banding. Are you sure you have that plan? Dee

I was told at a LapBand seminar that BCBS of DE was covering lap-banding. Does anyone know for sure? I don't want to spend any more money if that's true! Hang in there. Maybe the office can refile. Thanks, Fran
