Hernia info/advice VENTING...
I think I have a hernia. I'm waiting to get thru to CHRIAS to let them know. My stomach has been distended for a few weeks, there's been a slight discomfort. Now there's an obvious hardness that I can push in and it pops out. I'm concerned about time off work and being in the hospital. My youngest goes to Cab Calloway and there is no bus from my home for there, so I take him everyday and he rides a school bus to my job after school. If this surgery is same day in and out, no biggie - but any longer and I'm worried. I don't want to miss much time off work for yet a THIRD surgery, but I also don't want to damage the bowel, either. Then I have the clotting difficulties, so I don't want to do anything without a vascular surgeon putting in a filter first. I guess I should wait and find out if this is really as I suspect BEFORE I start to worry. So so lengthy and whiney.

PS I don't mean to influence anyone. If I had it to do all over, I'd do it in a heartbeat and my only regret is not having had this opportunity years ago.
Venting is good!!!! But, take a deep breath and wait to see what the doctors say. I have been living with a hernia for years. The doctor checks it every time I go, they record it, I think it will be my ticket to a tt when the time comes.
Everything will work out, just remember you have friends here that will help in a minute when asked to.
Take care,
Dana
Thanks, Dana. Well, now I feel like a big baby complaining....lol. Nikki just called and said Dr Irgau wants to see me tomorrow afternoon. I didn't realize that you can just keep them in there (hernia in the stomach/abdomin), mine is very uncomfortable. I went over to surgical clinic (work) and they told me that sometimes they can cut off the bowel so I was starting to be really concerned. I'll feel better after seeing the wonderful Dr tomorrow.

Hey Diane, The Dr's will let you know what is up tomorrow. Not much consokation, sorry. I had a hernia in my belly that I had operated on 4 yrs ago. I came home same day. I will admit that I was in more pain from that surgery than from WLS. I was out of work for 5 wks. I did milk it a little, I had a very physical job then. I wish I'd waited so when I have my tummy tuck done I could have that done also. It did hurt so I couldn't wait. I have a screen holding the hernia back and OBTW, no belly button to deal with. So I'm hoping that when I look into my plastic surgery all that can be fixed without complications. Next year. I'll say a prayer that everything will work out for you. Let us know as soon as you can.
