A little encouragement needed, please...
I could use a little help with plateaus. I had my surgery July 11th, and have plateaud again, this time for the last 3 weeks!!!! It is very discouraging to float between the same 3 pounds for 3 weeks. I have done the following to try to break the plateau: drinking more fluids, eating more protein, starting swimming 4 nights a week at the Y, increased my walking at the mall. Am I missing something? The 11th I will be 2 months out, and I was hoping to be a lot smaller by then. I have lost 27 lbs. since the actual surgery plus 10 prior to, for 37 total. Dr. Peters thought I would have lost a lot more. I see the doc at PMRI Friday (for what that's worth..don't get me started on that) and I guess I can ask him for his opinion, but I don't hold anything for that since he barely spoke on my first visit pre-op. (what did I pay for anyway?)
Anyway, any help (and words of encouragement) would be greatly appreciated. I am getting ready to leave for work for another thrilling day!
Thanks to everyone--
Sue
Hi Sue, unfortunately we all hit plateau's. Are you exercising other than swimming and walking? My thought would be alittle more exercise. I need to get back to the gym also, but financially right now I don't have it. Otherwise, I would have probably lost more.
Keep your spirits high remember you were 27 pounds heavier before you had the surgery. That is what everyone kept telling me.
I will be praying for you.

Hi Sue,
I think you are being way too hard on yourself, 27lbs is great for not even 2 months out yet. I hit many plateaues, and I would increase my exercise, and water intake, keep a food and exercise journal, when I did this, I started Aug 1 and by the end of the month I lost 20 lbs. The journal keeps us honest!!! and it works.
Take care,
Dana
Sue,
First and foremost Congrats on that loss of yours! What a good job and you should be commended for this achievement. Don't beat yourself up because you feel you should have lost more....It takes time. You have the tool, you have the knowledge and you will get to goal. Follow your program completely and you will get to goal. I have faith in you! Things will improve....
