Like all new post ops, Theres not enough hours in the day to get my protein and liquids in...not to mention food, meds and vitamins. I am on more meds now then b4 surgery: metformin (diabetes)-all the vitamins-Urso forte(horse pills, for gallbladder)-and blood presssure meds (never needed until I had surgery) Of course you know, you can't take this med with this med, and this med 2hrs apart from any tums(antacids), and this pill only taken when surrounded by little blue ppl ...LOL They say my potassium and magnesium are low, and now i just got word that my liver enzymes are high.....does it ever end?! I see to tolorate the foods okie, when i wanna eat that is, I think I experienced dumping once though, I can only guess it was from the cottage cheese (2tbl spoons) but it was like 4hours after i ate them, I went to get a shower got in, was doing good, all of a sudden i felt like my body was dehydrating as i stood there, i asked hubby to get me a drink, i took one small sip and felt even worse, so i got out soaked to the core flopped down on the toilet lid ,the room was kinda spining but i felt like i was having a heart attack, dying you name it at that moment Ifelt it, then outta no where i had to go, very little diarrhea. That was my first bowl movement and dumping?? My mom was trying to help me (shes still learning )and bought some food, unfourtantly(Sp?) not all was s/f, like the yogurt and pudding, I don't wanna dump (if thats what i did b4) but i dunno if it save to eat, both are fat free just not surgar free.

You also have to try to get some sugar free stuff to eat. I wouldn't worry too much about getting your vitamins & full protein in the first week. Concentrate on eating your pureed foods. Your sugar grams should not be more than 6g per serving (if it lists sugars & sugar alcohols then you add them together). What kind of vitamins are you taking? I recommend Optisource. They're chewable and they're specially formulated for bariactric patients. You can order them at www.WALGREENS.COM. You shouldn't be taking any pills that are larger than a birth control pill. All others need to be either crushed or in liquid form. Keep walking every day and sipping those liquids. I drank alot of chicken broth my first few weeks. I also ate alot of refried beans with cheese melted on top. Pureed chili is also good too. I still eat eggbeaters almost every morning too. Good Luck and keep us posted. Dee
