As you most know I had open (not by choice) RNY on the 8/25, While at the Hospital I slept fairly okie, well until the last night b4 i came home. It's about 3:15a.m and I havent slept a wink all night, I am so tired, but the pain keeps waking me up...... its uncomfy to sit/stand/lay so I 've been just walking the house..miseraerblly. The meds the doc gave me take a day or two to get in at the pharamcacy....grear isn't it (not T3w/codine). I have liquid tylenol here (OTC), its not touching the discomfort at all. I pray the stuff the soc prescribes works when I finally get it. I am so tired but the pain keeps me awake. I thought getting on here (yahoo chats) would take my mind off things...but no such luck. -Christina

Hi Christina, sorry to hear about the pain. Hopefully, your pain med. will come in soon. I would have told them to check the other pharmacies. I will keep you in prayer, and if you ever need someone to talk to, I am always here. Let me know and I can give you my number. Christie

Hang in there honey. It does get better. I used to prowl around the house at 3am also the first week post-op. It does help with the gas. And if you get pain in your shoulders or neck, don't worry, it's just the gas moving around. Have you pharmacy call around to other pharmacy's and get your T3 ASAP! You must be able to sleep so you can heal. Keep your head up! Dee

hi christine, have you tried calling your dr and asking if he had a suggestion what to do or a substitute he could call in ? I'm sure he would call something else in if possible. Hope you feel better soon.

I am sorry you are having so much discomfort Christina. Isn't there a way to get your meds from another pharmacy? I haven't had the surgery yet but I do remember towards the end of my pregnancy I was sleepless and so uncomfortable and I would just sit up all night and cry, it was terrible. I can relate a little to be unable to sleep. I will be praying for you for comfort and rest. HUGS!!! Robyn

Christina, Night time seemed like the longest hours of the day right after surgery for me. I did okay during the day, but at night I was restless and couldn't sleep. I would wind up in my rocking chair with a blanket, and rock and cry to myself. You're not alone. It's a normal reaction and yes, it can be scary, and yes, you get tired. If you decide you need a nap and can sleep during the day, that's the time to do it. We all get our clocks mixed up after surgery. You may still have some of the effects of anesthesia in your system. It will get better - you're on the losing side! Keep posting! Jean
