Dumb beginner question?

At the time of being released the instructions are that you must stay on a liquid diet for 48 hours. Does the 48 hour clock start ticking on the day following your release or does it start ticking the day of your release. In other words they gave me my discharge instructions on August 19 at 8:30 am. What day do I start pureed foods? August 21st or August 22nd?
