Has anyone experienced hair loss after wls? I had surgery 23 May 05 and have noticed my hair is thinning out in the last week or so. I have fine hair as it is and hope this doesn't last too long! I've lost 68 pounds since surgery 2 1/2 months ago. Any help you can give is appreciated! Jean

There was a bunch of posting about this subject a few weeks ago. Look in the older posts section. Hair loss is normal. Increase you protein intake if you are not hitting your daily requirements. Dee

Jean, you can expect hair loss at 3-6 months out. The hair loss usually starts at 3 months out. Your body is in shock and terribly malnurshied. Important to follow the rules of 100 gr of protein or more a day. It'll continue for any where from 4 to 9 more months. Make sure you get in the protein and vitamins. It will eventually level off and come back. Some folks use Nioxin hair products for thinning hair. It doesn't stop the loss it promotes new hair growth. I have purchased it for folks at the Beauty supply store if you or anyone else is interested. Just email me to let me know. ((HUGS)) Elissa
