Over 63

I have a friend who is 63 years old and very interested in have WLS surgery. Do you know of any doctors in the region who would consider her? Her insurance is medicare. Thanks Diane Cook

Hi Diane, CHRIAS's cut off for Gastric bypass is now 55. However, they will do Lap band for folks over 55. I'm not sure of the cutoff age for banding though. One lady, (Kathy from New Jersey) did go to Baltimore for her surgery, I think she was 60ish. Maybe she'll see this and let you know her Dr's name. Not sure if Medicare will pay for lap band. Your friend will l need to do some dectective work. You look great. How do you feel? Good luck. Elissa
