Second consultation in Sept.

I am not sure if I mentioned it on here or not, but I have decided to go for another consult. The surgeon I met with last week only does open incision and I really want laproscopic. So, they have a surgeon who does the lap surgery but he is not available until Sept 12th so that is when I go. The lady I talked to said only some people qualify for lap surgery. Does anyone know the requirements for that? She did say that my bmi is not that high...I guess that's a good thing...I sure think it is high though. She also said they may go by prior surgeries and I have always done well in prior surgeries, so I hope that will help me. I do have to have a phychiatric evaluation. I guess I could be having that done now while I am waiting. Anyway, that is where I am at right now. Any input would be appreciated. Robyn P.S. Does anyone know where Chadd's Ford is? That is where my consult is.

Chadds Ford is about 20 min North of Wilmington on Rt. 1. Just take Rt 202 North into PA. Turn left at the light onto Rt. 1. Chadds Ford is about 1 mile on Rt 1. Why do you have to go all the way up there for your consult? You would be closer just going to ChrIAS to see Dr. Irgau. Dee

I tried to get in to see Dr Irgau but he was taking patients until October and even then they told me it would cost $300 and I don't have that kind of money. I ended up going with Barix clinics and actually my first consultation was in Langhorne, PA which took me several hours so I was kind of relieved when they told me my second consult would be at Chadd's ford which is going to be a lot closer. That reminds me, I need to call CHRIAS and cancel my appt for Sept w/ Dr Peters because I am pretty sure I am going to be staying with Barix now. Robyn

Congrats on the 2nd consult. I think the BMI is the key factor in if docs will do lap v. open. Other factors may include scar tissue, previous abdominal surgeries, etc -- but I'm not absolutely sure about that. Good luck. Dianne
