Hi from Ruth

Hello All: I haven't been on site for a while and wanted to check in and say hello. Been extremely busy at work. Wanted to report that I hit the 100 lb. loss mark. I had my surgery on Oct. 25 '04. Still struggling with protein, but my numbers are not too bad. I write today because it has taken me this long to finally say "I'm glad that I had this surgery". I still see myself as I was before surgery, but my clothes and people's comments let me know that I do indeed look different. In fact, a co-worker gently told me that I needed to buy smaller clothes because my clothes were hanging off me. For all those considering surgery, hang in there. You'll have good and bad days, but I can now say it was all worth it. Ruth

Hey Ruth. Glad to hear from you. I already gave most of my stuff away. A lot of times folks bring it to the meetings. You are on the same page as most of us. The image thing. Interesting isn't it? We don't see the changes as much as others do. This is called Body DeMorphysis (sp) syndrome. It is the same for people with Anorexia. They see themselves as fat even if they are 100 lbs. It is a mental thing. Maybe we should discuss this with the physc at PMRI?? Sometimes I'm okay and other times I still see a fat girl looking back at me. We stress support meetings pre-surgery. But I am finding out how important the after surgery meetings have become. Keep up the great job Ruth. You are doing so great. ((HUGS)) Elissa

Hi Ruth, Glad there is another person out there that still likes their big clothes. Some stuff I have fit and others....its an attachment for me I guess! They are broken into so I hate to give them up at this time! They are comfort clothes! Although they are starting to fall down. One day I will part with all of them...just not yet! Its been a good journey for me. Debbie
