OMG!! I had surgery 7/8 and I started eating mushies on Friday. I am eating the whole house down and chucking EVERYTHING in the blender. It all is good food (seafood, chicken, beef, veggies, protein shakes) BUT I am eating WAY TOO MUCH! I almost eat as much as I did in one seating as i did BEFORE surgery except.....iIT IS ALL MUSHED UP! Please help me. I have an appt in 2 days and will be getting my FIRST fill. Anything specific I should tell the Doctor? I was doing so good and now I am so very sad about my eating within the last 4 days. People that I know who have had weight loss surgery themselves...tell me I am eating way to much. I feel like I am making uo for all the food I haven't eaten for this past month- I am playing catch up. Any suggestions ?? Help me with this addiction!

Christina, I would contact the doctor and the staff immediately. You sure do not want to stretch that pouch and ruin your chance of success. I did not have that problem, I still cannot eat a meal and still dont have but just a very small appetite, which l am glad for. I would really find out why this is happening and get to them ASAP. Good Luck to you. Joe Hutter Dover, DE

christina what your doctors would tell you is to measure what you eat and only eat what is in that serving you only need to eat until you feel satisfied not until you are full also a good thing to do is eat smaller bites and eat slower to make yourself aware of what is going in your mouth and how you feel while your eating it the whole idea is to measure eat slow and have smaller bites just take things slowly ok you see the doc in 2 days and i wish you luck ok if you need more help e-mail me or my mom or call my mom ok your friend vickie

Christina, I noticed that you said you get your first fill soon. You should let your surgeon know how much food you're able to consume so they can adjust the amount of saline they inject into the band. Since your procedure is strictly restrictive, you have no "pouch" to stretch. You should be measuring your food, but your intake at this point may be a bit more than those of us who've had gastric bypass. Hang in there, help is on the way.

From what I've read on Spotlight Health, that will all change after your first fill. You have little or no restriction right now. Take it easy and measure everything. Dee

Christina, You don't know how many times I have thought about calling you this past week. I am in the same situation. Although I limit the amount I eat at one time, I am constantly thinking about eating and have managed to eat mushed up foods also. As you know, I am the "other Christine Jones" who follows you from doctor to doctor. When I went to my medical doc on Tuesday I realized YOU are his patient also! I don't know about you but I regret not going to the PMRI rather than SFH for my nutrition support. I feel as though SFH has left us hanging out in the wind. Call me if you get a chance. My next appointment is tomorrow afternoon with Dr. Peters. Hang in there, Chris.
