Wierd Looks From Waitresses!!!
Hubby and I did day trips this weekend. Sat we went up to Phila to the Mutter Museum. After we were starved so we walked down Chestnut to a diner. I ordered a meatball sandwich. I ate 1 meatball off of the sandwich and was stuffed. Hubby finished it for me. He eats like a horse and still weighs in at 170 or so (sometimes I just hate him, he can eat anything!!!). Sunday we drove up to New Hope PA. Walked around the town, took a canal boat ride, etc. We had lunch at this wonderful Cuban restaurant called Havanas. I ordered and appetizer called Chicken & Veggie Potstickers. They are these dumplings that were filled with ground chicken, celery & onions and then grilled and served in a sweet & sour sauce. I basically butchered them and ate all the filling out of them (sooooo good). When the waitress came to collect the plates she found mine with poor little massacred dumplings littered about. She asked me if they were OK and I told her they were wonderful, she just gave me a funny look like she didn't believe me and walked away. I just giggled. I guess I'll have to get used to strange looks from the wait staff. Stopped at Ritas and got the SF cherry ice. Very good. Hubby liked it too and he usually hates SF things.

Hi Dee, Sounds like you are having fun with this. Traveling & variety is good. Meatballs & chicken didn't agree with me for the first few months. I was always safest with soup. The waitresses always look at me when I say no thank you to a drink. I used to explain, but now "I JUST SAY NO." Giggling is also good for the mind & soul. I get a kick out of the responses from people in resturants. Went out to diner on Saturday night. My friend (also a WLS postie) and I ordered 3 appetizers and shared them with our husbands. We were pretty much satisfied. Husbands ordered their entree. Then the 4 of us split a piece of cheesecake. MMMM. My 2 bites were like a whole cheesecake. The waitress never said a word. This is the unknown part pre-surgery. You can still go out and enjoy eating now even more than ever before. Traveling is a challange at first, gets easier each trip. Leftovers are okay. Not cleaning your plate is okay now too.
No Rita's with SF ice up North Wilmington yet. Stay cool. ((HUGS)) Elissa
