I live in Md but can't get my insurance to approve lap band for me - someone with my same insurance was able to get it approved in DE and had lap band with Dr. Irgau. So I am more than willing to drive from baltimore to delaware to get the surgery if that's what it will take !! Just looking for info on what you think of that practice ???

They are the absolute BEST! They are all caring, talented, thorough docs and once you meet them you'll agree that you will feel safe in their hands. Pre op testing, screening and education is a must in this practice and the follow up care is excellent -- they rock! Dianne

Absolutely the Best!!! The doctors and staff are some of the most caring and sensitive I've ever met. The support system they have in place for their patients is stellar. You have a choice of hospitals (Christiana or St. Francis). I went thru the Christiana program and would do it again if I had to. It cost $1200 up front but it includes alot of pre-op instruction and post-op support. I think St. Francis' program is only like $400 up front, I'm not sure but I don't thing they require you to go to any classes before surgery like Christiana does. Maybe someone else who's been thru that program can help you on that. The Nursing staff at Christiana is specifically trained to care for bariatric patients and they have special beds just for them. The area I stayed in was very quiet and I was able to get plenty of rest. I actually had a room all to myself the entire time. They don't double you up in rooms if they don't have to. Dee

I live in MD also and now have federal BCBS I didn't have it when I had surgery in Oct. Dr. Wynn, and staff are wonderful. I didn't have lap band. But I know they do it also. Take care, and feel free to ask questions anytime. Dana

I had RNY by Dr. Peters.. Dr Irgau was the senior surgeon there assisting. I have found no better care or concern from any doctor or surgeon I have ever had in comparison to what I found with CHRIAS. I think you will be pleased at their knowledge, their protocal and their compassion. They see us as people they can help that they want to help. We are no longer a number when we walk in their door. What more can you ask for? Best wishes to you! Gigee

I had lap band surgery by Drs. Wynn and Irgau in June of 2003. I love them both and can't say enought about them. I've seen Dr. Peters as well for post op visits and he's pretty wonderful as well. Karen Ventresca

There aren't enough words in the English dictionary to adequately describe the phenomenal office of CHRIAS. I live 2 hours away, in lower Delaware and I made the commute up to Wilmington no fewer than 16 times in 5 months to complete their comprehensive doctor clearances and patient education program to prepare me for my gastric bypass surgery. I don't regret a moment of it, although I lost part of my salary for the days of work I missed. I don't regret that either. CRIAS is FANTASTIC! They've added two more doctors to their practice, too. My surgeon is Dr. Peters and I recommend him highly! Good luck, and enjoy the commute. Invest in some good car CDs!

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I would recommend them to you. The entire office is wonderful, full of helpful people who are compassionate about the needs of the patient, not of the fat patient... the patient... unlike many who treat you as something that is not quite human, they give you the respect that you deserve and dignity also... Great group of people, 2 members of the office staff are success stories of gastric bypass surgery, and although I am having RNY I'm fairly positive that they would do an equally good job with banding, my meeting with Dr Wynn was informative, and comfortable... the chairs were actually too big for me (what a nice feeling). I think you'd love them... if you're willing to make the drive for the testing and the surgery, they're worth it! And let us know when you'll be around, we tend to take care of each other... Hugs Rachel
