Hi all.....it's the other Bonnie, here. I had a good day today. I had my grandson all day. We played, and did a little shopping. I ate lunch @ Arby's today. I managed to eat 1/4 of their turkey/swiss wrap. I still have pain when eating, but I did keep it down. I also ate 1 slice of pizza for dinner (in two sittings) which also stayed down. How was everyone's day?? Bonnie S

thanks for keeping up in line for you mom Vickie!!! I have been busy today, sleeping, more sleeping, watching TV... and working on sorting laundry... I really need help with this one. I want to get through it and donate clothes to the local day care because they re having a "yard sale" to raise money to help underpriveledged kids get the day care they need... good cause if you ask me... esp since my kids are in under that program... any volunteers to help? anyway, I've also been trying to find a wrist support for bowling, with my arthritis I need the extra support to keep from hurting myself... so I didn't get to bowl today, but I did a good deed... I went to the aid of a not yet friend. Someone I know through the singles group at church needed help with her friend from Chicago moving in tonight... so I went up and lent a hand... wish I could have helped more, but I couldn't manage the stairs, my knee kept letting out. But I did assemble the bed, put desk drawers back together, made the room "organized" so she could find boxes and clothing easily, etc... so I did something at least! Huggles to all!!! Rachel

Well, I am here and still confused as ever to what decision I should make. Should I keep the appt at Barix or should I try the dr's in Christiana? I feel so torn between the two. I like the security of Barix since that is the only operation that they do and I have read really good reviews. But, you all seem to love the other dr's and that makes me feel like I am driving a long way for something that I can get closer to home...aaahhhh. My insurance will only pay for 80% at Barix. If the other dr's take Alliance, I will be covered 100%. That might just make up my mind for me right there. I also like that fact that Christiana does laproscopic. I don't believe that the other place does. Not that I will be wearing belly shirts or anything, but I already have a lot of scars. Anyone want to help me with this decision or just smack me in the head for being a pain...lol. Robyn

Call Misty at Irgau's office and speak to her about your insurance. She can give you an apprasial of what your insurance will cover there. Do the same at Barix. Also speak to someone at your insurance carrier since some might require referrals and/or prior approval for consultations. I also HIGHLY recommend getting your surgery done Laproscopically if its possible. Recovery time is half that of open surgery. Also less risk of infection and hernia's. Hernias with lap procedures are very rare. Also scarring is minimal with a lap and abdomnioplasty(sp? or tummy tuck) is easier to do on someone with a lap procedure than with someone who had an open procedure (gotta think about the future!). And don't sell yourself short! You never know, you might be one of those "hot mamma's in belly shirts" in a few years! Heck Farrah was naked in playboy in her 50's! Tee Hee hee! Maybe playboy will want to do a WLS edition!!! Dee

Dr. Iragau is my doctor and he is AWESOME!!!!!! His staff is great too and they are close by. Pray about it first and ask God to help make the decesion. When you feel peace come over you....that is usually MY SIGN to go with whatever decesion feels peaceful to me.

Robyn, There is nothing wrong with having 2 appointments to compare. Keep the Barix app and make 1 with Dr. Irgau at CHRIAS. I think you will find him pretty amazing. He worked his magic on alot of us. Not only fixed our stomachs but worked on our heads too. Dr's Irgau, Wynn & Peters I would consider specialists also. They do 10-15 surgeries a week. That is pretty good statistics with an awesome success rate. Their follow up is good too. If there are any problems they are on top of it because they do other surgery as well. Read some of our profiles and you will see that we all share a lot in common. I would check on the insurance too, if you are like alot of us money matters. They do Lap WLS, but reserve the right to go open if needed. Try to make it to the support meeting tommorrow night. So much information and people to talk with. Even if you decide on Barix, you are welcome to the meetings here in Delaware. Email me if you need more info and if I can help in any way. Elissa Hart

Robyn, I got here after everyone else, but they're giving you sound advice. I love Dr Wynn (she's in with Drs Irgau and Peters) and they are a very competent group of doctors with high success rates. Awesome if you ask me. I don't have anything new to add... everyone else said it so well, but like everyone else, I want you to know you have my support. Huggles Rachel
