New to the Message Board.....
Hi, My name is Robyn and I am new here. I live in Milford, DE with my husband Jeff and my daughter Chloe. I am seriously considering having WLS, in fact, I am set up for a consultation at Barix Clinics on 8/9. I am not positive if that is where I want to have my surgery but I have not really heard much about any dr's in this area. Any advice?
Hi Robyn ...Welcome to the boards! I have been on here since April. I live in Townsend, De. I have not had my surgery but I am hoping to have it soon. If you have a questions so many people here are there to help. It has helped me so much. I am going through Dr. Irgau in Christiana. He is so nice. Best of Luck to you and please feel free to email me anytime.

Hi Robyn,
my name is Chris and I just had my surgery on 7/15/05. My surgeon was Dr. Irgau. His practice, The Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery is located near Christiana Hospital. There are now 5 surgeons in that practice which should speed up the waiting time for surgery dates. These are good doctors. You may want to check out their website. Good luck.
Robyn,
Welcome!!! This is a wonderful place to hang out. It is full of absolutely wonderful people.
As far as advice ... I say to research, research, and then research some more. Truly you can never learn too much about this surgery. Second thing I would highly advise, fully check out any surgeon that you think that you may use. I believe you have to have the utmost trust in the person whom you are putting your life into their hands. I wish you the very best whatever you decide.
I personally choose Dr Irgau and have never for a second regretted that decision!!! He was a perfect fit for me!!!
Hugs,
Tammy

Thanks for all the nice welcomes. I really feel good about this site and so far I feel like it is going to help me out a lot. I am nervous and excited about all of this. Part of me is sad and I feel like a failure for having to have this surgery in the first place. But, another part of me feels like I have finally found a solution to getting my life back. It is such a roller coaster and I have only known that my insurance would cover me for less than a week. It's crazy!!! I wish I had researched more surgeons before committing to a consult at Barix because now I have to pay if I don't go. My insurance will only cover 80% if I chose them for surgery because they are out of network. Ugh, I still have a lot of thinking to do. One thing keeping me going is my sister, she has already had this surgery (2 years ago). She is the one who showed me this site. Anyway, that was a super long thanks, I just have so much on my mind.
Robyn
Sorry I'm late but Welcome!!!
I know this isn't the popular attitude, but don't do it if it doesn't seem the right solution for you. I know that Dr Iragau (SP?) is good, my doc is Dr Wynn in the same practice. The entire staff there is extremely confident. I don't know much about Barix at all...
No matter what you decide, we'll be here for you, encouraging you and loving you... believe me, this group loves to love others... it's a wonderfully amazing thing!!!
Huggles to you and look forward to getting to know you,
Rachel
Welcome Robyn. I was reading your response to another person. Question, why would you have to pay for a consult if you cancel 2 weeks in advance? I know that Barix Clinic is good from others that have had it there. I have Dr. Irgau here at Christiana. I can't stress the importance of follow-up and support. You will find that CHRIAS is awesome on both counts. And look at how much closer you will be if you need the Dr's in case of Emergencies. There are alot of consults and office visits needed. Lots of time on the road. Think about it and consider giving CHRIAS a call. 892-9900. Elissa
