Back to work

Went back to work yesterday. Took 3 small meals in baby cups with me and a bunch of yogurts. I already have a bunch of protein powder there. I actually got in all of my liquids yesterday and about 2/3 of the protein goal. I had Class afterwards and didn't get home until 9:30pm. I had to take a mid-term exam. I think the anestetic erased everything I'd learned before the surgery because when I got to the part of the test on the 2 chapters we studied before my surgery I was a complete blank. Oh well hopefully I can make it up with the 3 case studies and final exam. Things are going really well. My energy level is fine and so far NOTHING has made me sick or gag. I was a little nauseated after I drank a chocolate protein drink that I'd added a little peanut butter to but it passed within an hour with no incident. I see my surgeon on Thurs for my 2 week check up and I think I'll ask him if he's sure he did anything to me! I'm down 16 pounds already. I hope I can keep up this pace for the next few weeks. I'd really like to be down 30 at my 1 month check. Dee

Dee My gosh! You went back to work already !? You are very resilient (sp?). Good luck with catching up and it sounds like everything is going well with you. LOL. I know what you mean about the two week check up. I was feeling so great that I told them that I couldn't have possibly gone thru surgery that they must've taken me to OR and just punched a few holes in my stomach. Dianne

Sounds like you are doing great Dee!! I am so sorry I didn't get to visit you in the hospital. I am down about 40 pounds now. Be careful with peanutbutter. I got sick on it. The oil did me in!! I had my first experience with dumping. I don't think I'll be eating peanutbutter for awhile!! Take care!

You're doing great!!!! I heard you were sick so I fully understand. We should get together next month after I'm on regular food. I'm already sick of the pureed stuff! I'm going to lay off the PB for now and try it again in a couple of months. I only put 1 tbs in the shake and it made like 16 oz and it took me all day to drink it ****pt putting it back in the freezer) I was just didn't feel good after but it tasted like a reecees peanut butter cup (so good). Maybe there wasn't enough to make me actually dump but I'm not going to risk it again. Dee

Dee My God Woman, what type of surgery did you have that allowed you to return to work in 2 weeks?? Please, don't overdo it. Your body needs time to heal. And 16 lbs. in 2 weeks, that is fantastic!! Keep up the good work!! Bonnie

I had the lap RNY. I had the surgery on the 13th, home on the 15th, stayed home the following week. So basically I was home for a week. Actually I felt good enough last week that I could've returned to work by Wed or so. I sit in front of a computer all day so it's not that bad. When I had my gallbladder out I was only home for a weekend. Dee

Hope you don't overdo it too much Dee... I know this is a crazy time of year... and if they give you grief... just remind them, ever so politely, that the doc wanted you to stay home for 6 weeks and see what they say LOL... Huggles Rachel
