UPDATE ON KIM SMITH

Bonnie I hope there wasn't anything wrong with Kim. Do you know what kind of test she had to have. I also, see everyone talking about their drain tube. I don't know what that is, because I don't think I had one, or else they removed mine before I woke up after surgery. Really feeling DUMB tonight. Am I having serious SENIOR MOMENTS???? Bonnie

HI Bonnie: I talked to Kim early in the day and she was not having a good day! She could not keep anything down, that is why they took her for test to make sure there are not any leaks. I called back at 2:00 and she said that they still did not know what was wrong, but she stopped the pain medication and was doing better. She was really tired though and did not talk long. Maybe you could call her before she goes home tomarrow, because she seemed really down (having second thoughts)! Thanks, Rosemary

Rosemary, Thanks for posting this. Do you happen to have any further updates on Kim? I didn't want to call her and bug her, especially if she had other friends here who were in contact with her. Looks like she needs her rest. BTW - it is not uncommon to have to go for additional testing. I had to be tested for "leaks" as well. All turned out okay in the end. But boy did I get nauseous right out of surgery. The docs were not going to take any chances. Hugs, Tammy

Kim is fine. She had a Urinary tract infection. Eating her ice chips and yacking away. I've known her for years, and she sounds like her old self!! She should be going home tomorrow. Karen Ventresca 6/10/03 lap band

Thanks for the update Karen. I stopped in to see Kim yesterday afternoon about 2pm and she was worried because she couldn't keep anything down. They were going to take her down for a swallow test later. Poor thing fell asleep while talking to the nurses, so I just quietly crept out so I wouldn't disturb her. It's funny though, all those antibiotics they pump into you and she still had a UT infection. Well, hopefully that's all it was and she'll be home today. I'll give her a call tomorrow afternoon to see how she's doing. I actually felt guilty, because so far nothing has made me yack yet! I'm terrified that I'm going to be one of those that can eat anything and not get sick!!!!!! Dee
