I'm being greedy...
I found out yesterday that St Francis Hospital has limited visitation for gastric bypass because they put us into the ICU after surgery. Well, that means that I can have people visit from 7-7:30, 11-11:30, 3-3:30, and 7-7:30... that's a whopping 2 hours total a day and ya know what, I hate being alone when I'm in a hospital bed soooooo...
I'm asking for angels, or a host of angels as the case may be, who will work together to make sure that every time someone is allowed to get through those doors to see me that they will... I need my cheerleaders!!! I'm gonna have a friend take me to the hospital, but the selfish part of me wants an angel from here who might go along with me also... I do better when I have a lot of suport and if I know that there are 2 people waiting to hear that I came through "with flying colors" both who understand what I'm going through and both wishing me the best... I'm thrilled to pieces... I am hoping that if I get an angel through this board that s/he can act as the "main" angel or the angel coordinator lol... make sure that all my angels (which to me is just another word for friend) can get to see me without overwhelming me, etc...
Okay, now that I've got all that out... I hope to be getting a LONG list of people who want to be angels or angel friends or whatever level of angel you wish you be... I love you guys and I've only been here a few days (well, on the boards at least!)
Huggles!

PS I am still sick, that's why I haven't posted or read much the past couple of days... I am dehydrated and woozy constantly... working on changing that without going into the hospital.
dehydrated and woozy constantly. salty snack or a salt pill and water load before you go out in the heat and you may as well get used to sipping water all day long now! it will be a way of live for you soon
when is your surgery? do you have a date yet? if so, let me know. i'll be happy to travel along to the hospital with you
Gigee
Hi Gigee! I am already carrying a bottle or water everywhere I go and sipping it, believe it or not, it's already a way of life for me! I'm also already on a high protein/ low carb diet, which thrilled the nutritionist to no end, said I won't have much problems adjusting to the diet because it's just quantities for me. I went to see her today with my sample menu and she thought it was great that I actually got the 100g protein a day that she wanted me to scheduled in in the right amounts... fortunately, that number will drop with my weight LOL...
Anyway, I am drinking the lovely gatorade, and water, and munching on high salt snacks (salted cashews right now) and avoiding the heat as much as possible. I am off the medication that was causing the diarrhea, and my strength is returning, it's just going really slowly. Oh well, guess it won't harm me too much to rest for a few days... and since my children will be with their father this weekend, I can rest all I want... but I'm still going to be at the PMRI(is that right?) meeting on Sat.
My surgery isn't scheduled, but I know it will be soon... I have my follow up with the pulmonologist on Monday, and my psych eval on Friday... after that I only have to schedule my surgery and see Dr Bianchi for the hospital's approval. I can't believe it, I have goosebumps thinking how close I am to scheduling this, and they have told me that it will probably be in Sept... I hope that's right... then I'll be more comfortable by Thanksgiving which is my family's big annual get together... I may only eat one bite of turkey and mashed potatoes with protein powder, but hey, I get to see them!
Okay I'm excited about getting healthy... I need to come down to earth a bit! LOL... Oh and great news, I lost 2.4 lbs in the past 2 weeks... I don't care if that isn't much, it means I'm not gaining and my eating choices are making a difference... I decided I wanted to be healthy as possible going into my surgery also, so I'm working on it. I hope I can keep loosing even up to the surgery date... I can't wait to be a looser!
Love to all!

Rachel,
Along with what Gigee said, Propel is a good less sugar suppliment to help get your body back into balance. It is made by the same company that makes that Gatorade that you "so love"!!! Serioulsy, the Propel tastes really good to me, and I HATE Gatorade. My personal favorite flavors are grape and lemon. Also, make sure you are getting in potassium via foods (not supplements unless your doc gives you the go ahead). BTW - Have you called your doc? You have been dealing with this for a while now ... not good to let it go on too long. Sorry, that is the mama in me rearing it's head.
As far as being an angel. I am the worst angel on this board. I live long distance with small kiddies so getting to the hospital for me is extremely rare. On top of that with hubby in the ministry, my plans can change at a moments notice. Thus making me a very poor candidate for my own personal set of wings. *sigh* But know I will be cheering for you in the background and praying for you and would be more than glad to share what I have learned along my journey thus far should you ever need a bit of direction. Very fortunate for you ... Gigee has stepped up to the plate and offered to be your angel. She is right up there with the best of them. She will take excellent care of you!
BTW - Gigee, LOVE the new pic!
Hugs,
Tammy
Tammy, a cheerleader is a cheerleader is a cheerleader, and I think you're an excellent one, especially since I believe prayer is a powerful tool and will appreciate every one you say for me! Thanks for the idea of propel... I've had them before, they aren't great but they aren't bad either... they taste too sweet to me... I'm already no-sugar LOL... I'm an odd person I know. :D Anyway, thanks for the idea, I'll check to see if the propel has sodium or not... oh... I don't tend to get much potassium in foods because the best source is bananas and I'm allergic... so they do always encourage me to take gatorade type drinks when I get dehydrated because its absorbed easier than the pills are.

PS I agree, Gigee's picture is fabulous... she looks like she got younger as well as thinner!
