Angel??

I have been on the msg boards a while now and I have heard angel all over the place, but not really sure their role. What exactly are they and their "duties"?? -Christina

Christina, Here is the OH page concerning "Angel Duties" http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/beanangel.phtml Here is my experience of "angel duty" An angel is someone who kinda takes you under their wings to help you through surgery and then help hold you accountable in the months following. They help prepare you, offer comfort when nervous, and even give you a swift kick in back side if you get way off track and need help getting back on the road. In short, someone you can confide in, someone whom you feel comfortable with, and someone whom you feel would be honest with you. Not just a Rah Rah cheerleader, but someone who is genuinely concerned about you and and your health. And not afraid to remind you of the consequences should you not be following the docs plan. ETC ETC ETC If there is one particular person you would like to have as your angel, all you have to do is ask them. A lot of the old timers and even some of the newer post-ops has had angel duties at least one time, and I think would be honored to do it if they can, should you ask. Should you forgo an angel - specific, know that this board is extra special. Everyone here is an angel to all of us as much as they can be. Everyone tries to take good care of all of us and hold each of us accountable. This is not just passing remarks and etc, special bonds happen here. People start out as message buddies, and become good friends. If you let your surgery date be known, at least one person will be checking on you and letting the group know when you have successfully made it through surgery so they can shower you with support. Either way, you have a whole group here that will support you and care for you. Choosing a specific angel or a group of angels, is entirely up to what would best help you. Hugs, Tammy
