power bars
Hi Ellen,
I like the Chocolate and the Cookies and Cream (CC is my fav). I went to Vitamin shop to get a stash of them and found out they were sold out. They are a popular item and tastes pretty good. I like them as my night treat. I get my protein in and fool myself that I am eating a good cookie! LOL. I guess I will have to order on line. Its just easier when I can pick them up.

Ellen,
I like the Lean Body Gold bars, especially the caramel peanut. 1 bar is 300 calories, 10 grams of fat, 7 grams of sugar and 30 grams of protein. By PMRI's guidelines (this bar was recommended by PMRI), you can eat a half a bar at one meal. I think they're as close to a Snickers bar that we can get without going off our plan.
You can pick up these bars at GNC, and with a membership you can get 20% off during the first 7 days of the month, or you can find them at Vitamin Shoppe. I've also seen them online.

Ellen,
I like the Power Crunch bars for an occasional treat with a bit of a protein punch! All the flavors are pretty good in my opinion. But do be careful when you try them. I was pretty sensitive to sugar early out and dumped on only a half a bar my first time trying them - I think I was about 4 or 5 months post op. I now can eat a whole one, but don't do it very often because they are no longer that filling for me. Then when I count the cost of my calories used, plus they take up a pretty hefty chunk of my fat calories, I find I would rather chew on a nice juicy steak, but that is just me. I mostly keep them on hand for the times of the month that I get a sugar/chocolate craving. They don't carry too well in your purse (crumble) or store in your car in the summer (melts****ep mine at home in my freezer and eat them frozen - YUM! I also have had the South Beach Diet Bars. My favs there are the Peanut Butter and the Cranberry Almond. These travel much better than most that I have bought. Not as much protein in them as some of the bars claim, but in a pinch they can help stave off eating something totally horrible. The best part about these, is you can get them in most grocery stores. Word of caution to those that are not allowed soy products, these are soy based.
About purchasing the Power Crunch ... You can always order them online and usually pick them up at the Vitamin Shoppe. If the Vitamin Shoppe does not have the item you want in stock, you can call them and have them order it and deliver it to the store and pick it up - no shipping - same price. Just an FYI. May want to confirm that is still their policy first though.
I hear of other bars out there that others love, and as a matter of fact I used to use several, but can't really recommend most of them any more. The further out I get the more I become overly conscious of the bad "stuff" that some of these companies put in our "healthy" bars. But then that is a whole nother story. Sorry for the rant.
Hugs,
Tammy
