My first vacation since surgery!

Hi! I had my surgery on 1/3/05 and I'm already down more than 100 pounds! To celebrate, my husband and I went on vacation for 7 days/6 nights to Paradise Island in the Bahamas. We stayed at the Atlantis Resort in the Royal Towers. We'll never stay anywhere else when we go to the Bahamas. It was awesome! Without carrying around the extra weight, I was able to walk 3 miles a day, swim (without being the biggest thing on the beach), parasail, scuba, snorkel, feed sting rays, ride water slides (Leap of Faith at the Mayan Temple of Atlantis is awesome), dance, do the limbo and generally run around and act like a kid again! We took all kinds of tours (day tours, dinner tours, snorkel tours, tour to Exuma Cay, powerboat rides, Straw Market in Nassau, mini-submarine, etc.). Unfortunately, since my husband is still morbidly obese, I had to treat him as if he were handicapped - lots of breaks and resting when we walked, carried lots of water for him, walked slowly and often took taxis to events within walking distance, etc. He was constantly too hot, drenched in sweat and out of breath! It was sort of a drag but also a good reminder of what I used to be like 100+ pounds ago. I am just so grateful to God and to my friends and family for all of the love and support! I couldn't have made this journey back to good health, energy and happiness without all of them and all of you! Thanks! Cassandra

Cassandra, I absolutley love Paradise Is. I have been there 4 times. Never been at the Atlantis though. I always went in the spring. Not as hot then. Fun being able to get on a plane for the first time and fit into the seat without the extension too isn't it? Life is good. Keep letting us know those WOW moments. ((HUGS)) Elissa

Isn't Paradise Island in the Bahamas beautiful ! We went there a couple of years ago and I couldn't get over it. I am usually not the early riser but every morning I was up to watch the sunrise. Maybe after my surgery we will get back there so I can do the water slides. I was so afraid I wouldn't make it down. So this is something I can look forward to. I wanted to stay in the ocean it was so beautiful but for some reason my stomach didn't agree with me. Glad you had such a great time. Sandy P.S. I'm not too far from you ! Boothwyn, PA
