Anybody coming home from hospital...
Ellen, I came home on 6/9/05 weighing 12 lbs more!! Don't worry.. it'll go away in a few days... they pump so many bags of fluid into you that you are retaining several pounds.. took 2 1/2 days for all of mine to go away, then the scale just keeps dropping!!
Hope you are doing well!!
Welcome to this side!!!

Ellen. Welcome to the Looser's bench. Hope you are feeling well. The scale is gonna be a new addiction for you. Try to get on 1 time a week. Remain focused & positive. The fluids they put in will come out. How ya feeling? Not as bad as you thought or worse than you thought? Keep us posted and ask away, someone will try to answer. ((HUGS)) Elissa
Elissa,
I am feeling almost scarey great!! I am not taking any pain medicine and tolerating pureed foods and liquids fine. I get an occiasional gas bubble that works its way out but that is about all. If you looked at my stomach you would think I had been through WW III. It is really bruised but doesn't hurt at all. I am so greatful. So far I am sure am a happy camper.
((hugs)) Ellen

Ellen,
I think I was just about as opposite of that as possible. I was running around at the hospital telling everyone who would listen to me that I think I had already lost tons while on my little 2 day fast! For whatever reason, no one was really agreeing with me ... imagine that?
Hang in there, it is jus****er weight. Did you weigh on your home scales before going in or are you going by your two week pre-op appointment? I know me personally, I put on a pound or two those last couple of weeks before surgery. Ummmm a major case of "last meal syndrome" , which I don't advise anyone else to catch BTW!!! So according to my file/records at the docs office, they never saw that additional weight, since I was not weighed for two weeks prior to surgery. Gosh did any of that make any sense at all??? I feel like I am really talking in circles today!
At any rate, Congratulations Ellen! So good to hear you are doing/feeling so well!
Hugs,
Tammy

Yes, TWICE !!!
After Gastric Bypass I didn't actually weigh myself, but I knew my stomach was bigger. Then after my second abdominal surgery in April I was more than 10lbs heavier and laughingly whined to Dr Wynn that I was tired of coming home with a bigger stomach than when I came in. She laughed and assured me that it would come off and it did.
