Linda's back in town!!!
I'm on the losing side one week post op (lap roux and y bypass)!!!! I admit the first two days of recovery were way beyond this babe's pain threshold, but that was then and my recuperation is thus far without a hitch (thank you Dr. Williams at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital!!!). I had a haircut and bought myself new jewelry (dangling earrings and a fun ring) as a get well gift. I knock on wood daily. Monday I'll have my follow up and hope my drain comes out - it's not bad I just need to return home and my bloodhound would see the foley as a tug of war toy. No lethargy, no food intolerance, life has been good to me!!! Linda
P.S. I'd forgotten my water bottle in the car and asked the lovely proprietor iof the boutique where I happened to buy my jewelry for a glass of water to which she happily complied. I happened to mention I was just out of surgery (wearing my hospital bracelet as a badge of honor) and as we chatted I mentioned bariatric surgery to which she replied "I had mine a year and a half ago and am down 130 pounds."
A lovely lady!!!!
Dianne, on the day I came home from the hospital I went with my husband recliner shopping, I was afraid to sleep with him....long story there but to make it short, he gets very violent in his sleep, so I mentioned wanting a recliner, bless his heart we ended up buying two and he slept out in the family room, I couldn't get comfortable so I ended up going to our bed to sleep. He was great the whole time.
Just thought I would add my 2 cents. Take care!! Dana
Welcome to the Looser's bench Linda. Everyday will get better and better. Look out, we've got another shopper on our hands. I gotta admit, I was kinda shy at first, but now I tell total strangers and I get so much positive feedback about it. When I can, I take the time to explain & give information and try to change attitudes about WLS too. The media is trying to get the word out. TV programs galore. Health channel, Dr. Phil, Ophra, it's everywhere now. Just gotta get the public to put a positive spin on it. Education and information and sharing our journey's certainly helps.
Haircut and new earrings already. WOW!! Go girl. Glad you had the ID bracelet on. It is important and can start lively conversations with people. Wear it with pride. You might want to get a medical ID braclet or necklace to replace the hospital one. One place you can check them out online is: WWW LAURENSHOPE.com. They will engrave the info on it that you might want. Pretty things and fast too. You deserve it.
Keep posting to let us know how you are doing. ((HUGS)) Elissa
