Consult Completed
I am so happy that I had my consultation. My appointment was at 9:00am but I did not get seen until after 10am ?-( I'm not holding this against the office b/c I heard a lot of the regulars saying that it was uncommon to have that many people there. I really like Dr. Irgua, he was not pushy at all and told me to take my time and that even though I may want this surgery now, that it was not emergency surgery and i have to live with whatever I decide. His staff was great. I told DANIELLE, one of the nurses, that I would mention her on the website. She was really nice and said that everyone loves this website.
Now the fun part going back to my PCP to get these referrals and making appointments to see these doctors. Once again thank you for everyone's support and if you have any helpful advice about getting all of the clearances I would appreciate it.
Congratulations! You're on your way now! Make all of your appts ASAP! Get copies of your records. If you use Dr. Ishmael (pulminology), keep on top of his staff. DO NOT wait for them to call you back for anything (they're not very good at that!). I was told after my 2nd sleep study that his office would call after they recived the report and set me up for the CPAP machine. I waited 2 weeks and no call so I finally called myself and got in. I was then told that they would contact medequip that day about the machine and I would hear from that company the next day. I waited another week and no call. I finally called Misty (MY HERO!) at Dr. Irgau's office. She called and made them fax their info and call medequip that day. Now I'm waiting for the respiratory therapist to call and set up the appt to get the machine. Make sure you keep a list of ALL medications & dosages with you for every appointment. Most doc's ask for a list. Which hospital are you using?

thanks so much for the advice. I am finding that all these forms do ask the same questions so having the list of meds with me is a great idea. I'm going to use St. Francis b/c it's less than half the cost and when I asked Dr Irgau he said the programs were about the same. Do you or have you heard any differences in the programs?
The only thing that I heard was that if you take the St. Francis program you must have your surgery at St. Francis. It's all about personal choice really. (I can't stand going downtown for any reason, and the PMRI is only minutes away from my home and work) You can still go to the support group meetings at the PMRI, you'll just have to pay the $5 fee. Maybe there's some St. Francis people out there that can advise you better. I only know Christiana people. Maybe you could become a surgery angel to a St. Francis person and kinda go thru the process with them.
Keep us posted on whatever you find out.

Hi LR....I had my first appointment with Dr. Irgau today too! I was there at 11am. I was very impressed with everyone. I didn't have a whole lot of questions thanks to this website! I have made all of my appointments already. I would like to keep in touch with you since we are both starting this at the same time. I will be going through Christiana Hospital. It's closer to me. I live in Townsend, DE. Everything is so far but thats ok.
Good luck to you and please keep in touch.
