Consult Scheduled on Thursday
Today I finally got a referral from my PCP and I have a consult scheduled for Thursday w/Dr Irgau. Does anyone know of a good nutritionist or dietition in the area that works with bariatric patients. Or is this something that Dr Irgau will give me info on. I'm sure that I have enough info to get approved by insurance but I just want to have a back up plan just in case.
This is not my first consult and i've been thinking about this surgury for a while. I consulted with a doctor in PA at the now called Barix clinic, about 3 years ago that I was not really comfortable with. If anyone can also give me any opinion on Dr Irgau bedside manner etc. I know the people i've talked to so far from his office have been really great.
thanks.
Hi L R.....I have my first consult with Dr Irgau on 6/9/05....i'm a little nervous. My PCP has been great so far. I just switched to him because my other doc didn't seem to want to help me. My PCP gave me a referral to a dietition but I haven't gone yet. I'm sure Dr Irgau will have a name also. I will let you know how mine goes. I've only heard good things so far about Dr Irgau. A friend of mine works on the hospital floor where his patients are. She said he is a very good doctor with a good bedside manner. I hope so. I have also been very happy with his office. Nicki is very nice and helpful on the phone. I can't wait to me her. Good Luck and please keep in touch.

Hi, LR & Sharon. You guys sure are in the right place for info & support. PMRI, Preventative Medical Rehab Institute, works with Dr.'s Irgau, Wynn & Peters. The Nutritonist, Dietician, Physchiatrist, Support meetings are all scheduled there. This Monday night, the 6th, at 7PM, there is a support meeting scheduled. Try to make it. It will be given by the Dr. Irgau on what to expect the 1st 3 months. It will be sooooo worth the time to go. PMRI is located on Rt 141 & 52 in the old "Pellport" building. Get there early to meet others & socialize a little. All the Doctor's have an awesome bedside manner. They reassure and make you feel comfortable and will help you make the best decision for you. They genually care about you. The rest of us will try to support where we can. It is not an easy journey, but most of us will attest to how worth while it has been for us. Try to read some of our profiles by double clicking on our names. You'll find you have a lot in common with us. Email or post if you need more info. ((HUGS)) Elissa

LR & Sharon,
Welcome to the DE message board! I agree with those that posted before me. Dr Irgau Rocks! Truly he is not only kind and compassionate, but he knows his stuff. He watched over me and the other patients in the hospital like a mother hen watching over her chicks! We are very fortunate to have such a skilled surgeon in our area. He took no chances with me. Took every precaution to make sure that anything that could be a problem was caught before surgery to avoid any surprises in the OR. But at the same time, he is skilled in handling any emergency that may arise. I thought long and hard before I chose the person in whom hands I was placing my life. I had every confidence in him before surgery and even more confidence in him after the surgery.
Best wishes making your decisions!!!
Hugs,
Tammy
Hi, I'm new to the site, found it by accident, but sure glad I did. Unfortunately, I can't go to the practice of Wynn, Irgau, and Peters due
to insurance. I have a dr in Philly that my insurance is sending me to. Have a conference Mon 6/20 then my dr appt on 7/19. Kind of have mixed feelings about the whole surgery issue, but....diets just don't work. Thanks for hearing me out,
Beth
