Haven't been on in a while but...
I'm doing pretty good. I lost 18 pounds at my first post-op appt 2 weeks ago and then went back yesterday for the one month and had only lost ONE FRIGGIN PoUND!!!!! What's up 'wit dat??? Dr. Peter's - bless his heart- tried to console me by saying that some people are just "slow losers" but I'm not trying to hear that. Am I doing something wrong? I'm probably not getting enuf protein because some days I just don't feel like eating....HELP!!
Hi, Gawjus. Are you keeping a log? Take a look at it. You really need the protein & water. If you are having trouble getting it in, give me an email or as call. 475-0950. I have some great ways to get in the protein and like it too. 20 lbs in 4 weeks is pretty damn good. That's 5 lbs a week. Are you able to walk any? Important to have keep the muscles moving. The surgery is only 1 part of this puzzel. 3 parts to be successful. Small portions, quality (protein/Non-fat) and exercise kept it coming off of me. Hang in there. Good luck. Keep us posting.

Hey Kim!!!! It was good to see you yesterday. I know you are frustrated, but Elissa is right. I lost 14 pounds my first week and then did not lose any for five days. I even emailed Danielle from the Lifeskills. She told me that you have to really eat a lot of protein to lose the weight. And drink, drink, drink, water. You look great though. Keep your head high beause I know you an do it.
Smiles!!!!

More protein is the key (so they told me at PMRI). I've been taste testing different protein powders lately (my surgery will be 7/13). I really like the IDS Whey Protein Isolate Cappiccino flavor (but you MUST shake it, not stir with a spoon, this will be my coffee replacement in the mornings!), the Nectar Fuzzy Navel Peach is good too and the Whey Fruity Grape is also good. I also purchased a can of Any Whey unflavored protein powder. I tried it in an orange Fruit20 and it was very good. It's also blended for baking and comes with some suggestions and recipes that sound good. Go to www.bariatriceating.com they have sample packs you can purchase and their prices are better than the manufacturer's websites. good luck!

Hi sweetie!
I can only echo what the others have said and, sigh, I experienced it myself. After my ulcers started acting up my intake (fluids and protein) were really down. And because of the ulcers I just don't want to eat or drink. Finally wrapping my mind around the fact that I had to, cause after this surgery it is a must, not a choice, I started drinking and getting in protein by the clock. Even if I didn't want it. After 2 weeks of losing nothing those numbers started falling again.
I guess we just have to grin and bear it? If you are not "eating" well, be sure and supplement that protein with shakes. But remember, you have to eat too!!
It will come off! Just keep following those instructions they gave us!!
*hugs*

Hey Gawjus!
You are doing GREAT!!! I went for 6 weeks without moving more than five pounds and then BANG - 15 in 2 weeks!
As I said before at lunch, it all depends.... I have never figured out what really causes the weight to move. I do think that my body likes to hold on it to until it relizes that it has to go.... then it the cycle all over again.
We miss you at work! Come back soon... How does the pink short outfit look?
Call me & let me know what's going on! Have you talked to HDS?
