I just found out today that I have to go in the hospital (St. Francis) on Monday and have a cardiac catherization done. I am still cleared for surgery on the 15th provided they don't find anything major on Monday. I met with Dr. Irgau today and everything is a go with him (unless we run into an insurance problem), but my family doctor called and said she got a report on my stress test and it wasn't normal. The cardiologist knew about it but never called me because he didn't feel it was a big problem that would prevent me from having the weight loss surgery. However, he said that if the anethesioligist (sp?) wants to he can refuse to let me have the surgery done at the last minute because the stress test was not normal. I took my husband with me to Dr. Adleke's office and we sat and talked for about 40 minutes and finally deceided that I should have the CC done to cover all the bases. The more I thought about it, I figured that if they do find a problem, I would rather know now than find out during surgery. There appears to be a narrowing in an artery that leads to the heart. He doesn't think it is blocked, but he won't know until he runs the test. I will keep you posted, pray for a good outcome. Ellen

Hi Ellen, I too had a Cardiac Cath done prior to my WLS. I was freaked out about it at the time. Mine came out fine. I thought it was better to know if there was a problem before having surgery too. I hope it goes well for you and I feel that the more info everyone has... the better. Good luck. T PS.. it wasn't painful at all
