Hello I have had my surgery 5 months ago and I have lost 95 pounds. I do have a question, when I vomit why is it mostly froath and not so much food?

My question is why are you vomiting? You are doing extremely well in the loss dept, but it worries me because it sounds like it happens to you often. Eating too fast? too much? or just dumping? T

Joy, we call that foaming. Cause all you get is a bunch of foam. Sometimes a little food. It has something to do with the gastric juices in the new pouch being irritated. Maybe you ate a little too much or too fast. I started to keep track of the incidents. Started at about 4 weeks out. Even a mouthfull of food would trigger the foaming. I let Brett know and he scheduled me for an EGD. The Doctor found that my stoma was constricted and with a simple procedure it was fixed. Let your Dr. know. How often is it occuring? Start monitoring what it was that you ate. If it persists, it could also be the food itself that you can't tolerate just yet. Stop and try again later. We are all so different. Keep posting to let us know what happens. ((HUGS)) Elissa

Another contributer is the excess mucus our little tummy keeps about. I notice that I get a bit of the foamies if I've got a runny nose/postnasal drip/allergies. Check it out w/ the doctor, like Elissa said. Always better safe than sorry!

Thank you all for answering me back. This happens about once a week, my little pouch will hurt extremely bad then once I throw-up I feel much better. It usually happens if I eat to fast, or not chewing well enough. I go see Dr. Irgau in June for my 6 month post op I will ask him then. Thanx Again, Joy 317/222/-95
