crushing Lipitor???

Anyone have any experience crushing lipitor. There is no way I can take that pill whole. My doctor said I can open my effexor (for depression) and put it in apple sauce. Hope it works (so does my family ) Ellen

Hi Ellen, You should ask your doctor or pharm. Some meds you can not crush. I just know from experience.... Jen

I would ask your pharmacist. If all else fails talk to a compound pharmacist to see if they can make it in liquid form. I bet they can. I updated my profile yesterday talking all about being referred by Dr. Peter's to a compound pharmacist for a medication that hurt me (caused the ulcers) when taking it crushed. Gigee

I crushed it for about 3 weeks following my surgery. Mixed it with applesauce, sugarless jam and everything else to no avail. Finally just broke the pills into eights and swallowed them like a small pill. But ask your doc what is the best solution. At 4 months out my doc took me off Lipitor as my yoyal cholesterol had dropped to below 160 Dwight

I am on Lipitor, too. I checked with the pharmicist. It is okay to crush.
