OK!!!!!! LET's get my little worry out of the way first. Here it goes. I went to follow up today with my PCP because of my accelerated heart rate. Well, it is still accelerated. I did not even get a chance to take a breath and the nurses took me back and completed an EKG on me. It went fine, but my heart rate is still 110. the funny thing is, is that I feel fine. It is not affecting me at all. Now comes the funny part!!!! I had to switch from Toprol to another beta blocker because Toprol is a time released drug and I cannot have such after surgery. Been taking my new medicine since I have been home. Just thought I took one of these once a day just like the Toprol. WRONG!!! I have to take the new medicine twice a day. So part of it was my fault. I am hoping that my heart rate will be down next week when I meet with Dr. Peters( according to his earlier diagnosis, it may never go down LOL!!!!) NOW THE EXCITING NEWS. I MET WITH MY PCP LAST MONDAY(THE DAY BEFORE MY SURGERY). I WEIGHED THE SAME AT HER OFFICE AS I DID WHEN THEY WEIGHED ME THE DAY OF MY SURGERY. MY WEIGHT WAS 309. HERE COMES THE EXCITING NEWS!!!!!!! I HAVE ALREADY LOST 14 POUNDS. I AM AT 295. BELOW THE 300s AND JUST TICKLED TO DEATH. I CANNOT BELIEVE IT. I CANNOT WAIT WHEN I WEIGH IN NEXT WEEK WITH DR PETERS. NOW IF I CAN GET THIS HEART RATE THING UNDER CONTROL! SMILES TO EVERYONE!!!!! JULIE

Hey Julie! Good job on the weight loss! As far as the accelerated heart rate? There could be many things, some worse than others, so DO NOT LET ANYONE take this lightly. Stay on them, see a cardiologist, whatever it takes. After all you've been through, you don't want to keel over from your heart being overworked or some other factor. I don't say this to scare you, I just would like you to stay on top of it. Obviously, I haven't seen your workups and there isn't too much info here. Did you have any problems at your cardiology appt? I'm guessing no, since they passed you and you had surgery. Do I think the surgery caused it? No. So, please just let us know what is going on and promise to take care of yourself! Valerie
