One Week Post Op and feeling great!!!!!
I want to apologize for not being on the message board sooner than this. I wanted to feel really good when I posted a message. I am doing wonderful. No pain at all.
It is funny, the worst part of my body that hurt the most, was my mouth. They must of used a crow bar to get that tube down my throat. I had to take my tylenol 3 jsut for my mouth.
My experience at the hospital was a good one. There were some minor set backs with my oxygen level, heart rate, and fever. Dr Peters was a saint and took really good care of me. I want to share with you his REASON for my accelaterated heart rate. Dr. Peters told me that my heart rate was accelerated because HE WAS AROUND ME. He told me that he could understand why my heart rate went up. LOL!!!!!! He is such a trip.
I have been doing pretty well with eating and drinking. There is NO WAY I can get all that food in. I have been getting most of my protein in by having two protein shakes a day with two scoops of Whey portein mix. If not, I could not do it with just the food. I can only eat about 1/4 cup of food at a time.
Drinking is good. I miss gulping my water though.
I pretty much have figured out how to get all my medications in. That was a little nerve racking at first.
I follow up with my PCP tomorrow just to follow up on my heart rate. I have not seen any change in it since I started taking my medicine again.
I have my two week post op with Dr. Peters next Thursday. Looking forward to that.
I have been walking, walking, walking. The more I walk the better I feel. I walked four times around the outside of the house tonight. I felt great afterwards.
I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE AGAIN FOR ALL THEIR SUPPORT AND LOVE. IT HAS BEEN A WONDERFUL ADVENTURE AND I COULD NOT DO IT WITHOUT EACH OF YOU. I AM HAPPY TO BE ON THE LOSING SIDE. ;
I WANT TO SHOUT OUT A SPECIAL AND WONDERFUL HELLO AND THANK YOU TO GEORGETTE. I COULD NEVER HAD GOTTEN THROUGH MY MINOR WORRIES AT THE HOSPITAL WITHOUT HER. SHE IS A SAINT AND A PHENOMENOL PERSON.
Hope all is well with everyone. I will keep in touch more often now that I am back on my feet.
Thanks again to everyone
Smiles!!

Julie,
So good to see you up and about and posting! But please, no worries or apologies about posting right now ... you have a full time job just taking good care of yourself. Which BTW looks like you are doing an awesome job! Post when you can, but don't worry when you can't.
Good to see you are walking and already know first hand how that helps the recovery process. I found it simply amazing at just how fast I was able to build up endurance after my surgery. From a gal whose hardest exercise before surgery was struggling to find the remote to now running ... the difference was/is pretty dramatic! At any rate, continue taking excellent care of yourself and brace yourself for some awesome results!
Oh and BTW, I am interested to hear how your appointment with Dr Peters goes next week ... you know, the pulse, his theory and all.
Hugs,
Tammy
