Hi Candi~ I have BC/BS. I know that the PPO does pay for it (the kind I have). You should contact them prior to switching & call the doctor's office. I can tell you for experience, please save your self from un-needed stress & have 6 months of documented weight loss. I was lucky since I had it. There have been a few people that had their surgery delayed because of it. Best of luck with you decission. Jen

I have BC/BS POC plan and they covered mine as well. It took a while to get all of the preliminary approvals such as cardiology, pulmanary and psychological exams as well as blood work and approval from my Family doctor. I am only 6 1/2 weeks out of surgery and I dont regret it, but it is also not the easy way out as a lot of people think (skinny people that is LOL) I have had BC/BS for a while so I dont know if there is any kind of a waiting period before you can have elective surgery done either, but like a lot of people, mine was for medical reasons as well. Good Luck to you though !!!

Hi Candi - I have BCBS/Empire Blue, which is a PPO. I had NO problems and did not need the 6 month documented history. As was suggested, call the different companies and find out what their requirements are. That could save you a lot of heartache and trouble later. Best of luck! Valerie
