Newbie

This is my first post. I have my first appointment with Dr. wynn in July. It only took me 3 months to get the courage to make the appointment. I am glad to have found this website and to hear from real people who have have the surgery and not just those who think they know what it is all about. I am very nervous about the whole process and what kind of life style changes are in store for me. How long does it usually take from your first appointment to your surgery date? Jenn

Hi Jennifer and welcome to the boards. I first had my appt. in Oct. and my surgery was in Jan. So only 4 months, it was not that bad. Just post if you need help with anything. Christie

Jennifer, Congratulations on making your first appt. I, like you, just scheduled my first appt., at first it was with Dr. Wynn for July 28th, then I changed it for Dr. Irgau and now it is June 28 (I think). I am just as nervous and exited as you are. I have Coventry, I know they will not pay for my surgery, but they will pay for the pre-test, dumb I know. I am going to have the chance to change over to BC/BS soon, so I am hoping......... All I can do is try. Best of luck to both of us.

Welcome Jenn, It took me two months from my first appointment to my suregery. It is not normally that fast, I just got lucky. I was working on the surgery for over a year before I got to my first appointment. Had to wait 5 months just to get in to see Dr. Wynn. hey there Jenn, I had my first appt. with Dr. Peters the end of Dec. and i am still woring on my clearances, b/c one of the doctors was a bit backlogged and it took me 2 months for an appt and then 2 more months for his testing....so i am working on 4.5 months and still going...hehe -Christina
