It's the little things.
Hi everyone.
I have a picture finally.YEA! So everyone who does not know my face can now see me. Please come up and say hello at the next meeting. I love meeting you all. I am doing very well since my surgery on April 11. Having some trouble with artificial sweetners but I am working around that. Had my first bad experience with food yesterday. I made a tablespoon of corned beef hash with an egg and pureed it up. 15 minutes later WOW!!! Into the loo for me and I was quite shaky for about an hour. I assume this was a little dumping on fat. Shame I really enjoyed it going down. Have had to stick to salty and spicy foods because anything that even taste sweet is making me sick to my stomach. All except for crystal light and that is how I am getting my extra protein in right now. I am getting some walking in but not what it should be a month from now. I am still nursing my broken foot. Hope all are doing well and I will see you at the next meeting.

Well it is good to see your smiling face Penny!
About the sweeteners ... have you tried Stevia? It seems to do better for some that have trouble with all the "more availablel" choices. We have a gal on here who can only do splenda. For the longest time for me post op, I was extra sensitive to any sweet taste ... much preferred salty to sweet, just like you. However, for me, that sweet tooth has since returned and it is battle at times. I think it is because I dabbled again at one point. My suggestion is to stay away as long as possible. It is individual for each of us though, I know of some who are a few years out and their sweet tooth has yet to return.
The corned beef hash and eggs would have killed me ... between my problem with eggs until just lately and the fat and potatoes in the corned beef hash ... yikes!!! ummm come to think of it ... I have NEVER liked corned beef hash ... maybe that is the real problem for me??? Seriously, my family loves it so I fix it for them once in a while ... but the smell sends me packing! I know on those days that I won't be eating for a while. At any rate, sure sounds like you had a little episode with the ole dump monster. It can hit differently, but is never pleasant.
Good to hear you are pushing the protein. I so believe in supplementing to help rebuild your body and to strengthen your immune system. Sure hope that foot starts cooperating soon with your walking plan! But obviously, first things first. Continue with the good job you are doing of taking good care of yourself.
Hugs,
Tammy
