New here. Has anyone ever heard of Coventry paying for WLS? I was alwasy told no. I called CHRIAS this week to schedule a consultation and they said that coventry will pay for my consultation, that seemed weird. Anyone ever have an experience with Conventry? Thanks

You should check with Coventry directly. It often depends on the employer and whether or not they've elected to pay for the surgery as part of the policy.

Thanks Jone....I will try and do that. I see that you just had your WLS, how was it? Any advice to someone who is in the "thinking" of it stage? I'd appreciate any help/advice you can offer. Is there anything I should know before I go for the consultation?

Hi Candi - It depends on who the employer is that offers your Coventry coverage. If it is through the State of Delaware plan - they DO cover WLS. I had my surgery just over a year ago and my primary plan (Anthem BC/BS) paid 50% and Coventry picked up the balance. A friend of my husband's who works with him at Del-Dot also had surgery and Coventry was his sole coverage and they paid for him too. It's my understanding that Coventry does not usually pay for it - the trick is whether or not your employer has the rider and the State of DE does. Good luck! Patty

Thanks everyone! I will check with the employer, I'm thinking they don't. I may have the chance to soon switch to BC/BS, but now I here there aren't going to pay for it any more as well. I guess I'm just getting in too late! Thanks for all of your advice, I certainly appreciate it.
