Hey you nice people - does anyone know if insulin shots make it harder
to lose weight? I think most of you know I can't have the lap band due to finding out I have gastroparesis (stomach issues from diabetes). I am doing weigh****chers again and I seem to be losing okay, but nothing like the way I lost 2 years ago when I dropped 84 pounds in 9 months!
I have to stick with it or you will be reading my obituary, but I am wondering if the insulin is making this whole process more difficult?
I hope someone knows the answer or can direct me to a link where I can read about this. I can't seem to find anything abou it on the net.
I will be so happy if this is NOT the case!
Thanks,
Tracey
Tracey, I am so sorry to tell you but it is absolutely the case. Being on insulin makes losing the weight MUCH more difficult and slower. I have been fighting for years. Down 30 up 40...down 45 up 55. Each time I gain more I end up having to take more insulin. I am through with that. That is why I am having the surgery. Feel free to e-mail if you want to talk more. Ellen
Tracey,
Unfortunately insulin DOES make it harder to lose weight. The more insulin you have, the harder it is to lose.
Are you taking anything else for the diabetes? If not, ask your doctor about metformin (Glucophage). It is a pill that lowers blood sugar and helps your body to use insulin more efficiently. You can take this along with insulin.
Good Luck!
