Little Hitch in the road

Found out yesterday that as of April 1, my employer's insurance will no longer cover any WLS procedures at all. Harumph. I have a little glimmer of hope though, my husband's insurance (which we don't have right now, but can get, IF I quit my job) is Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware, Carefirst. It's an IPA HMO. Does anyone have experience with this insurance, and are there hoops to jump through? Like the six months medically supervised plan, etc? Because if there is, I'll start now.

Kim, So sorry about the insurance. Maybe there is a way to fight it. That might be better than having to quit your job in order to get on your husband's plan. ( unless of course you CAN quit your job ) Well, I will be thinking of you. Please keep me posted. Stacey

Thanks Stacey. I can't really afford to quit my job, but yesterday I was handed a little glimmer of hope. My husband's insurance should cover, as long as they haven't written an exclusionary clause into their policy. They have no open enrollment period either, so we can pick up insurance on the first day of any month. I am just hoping their not going to need a six month doctor's notes, diet history ,, etc. I have a new family doctor and have only seen him once. He's very supportive, but doesn't have the data. My old family doctor was never ever supportive of this. So, I think I'll make an appointment with my family doctor, give him the heads up, and go get weighed and have some record of it. Just to cover all the bases. I'm still planning on proceeding full steam ahead. With my fingers crossed there's no nasty clause blocking me from doing this. If not, well, then I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
