Just starting the journey
Hi everyone. This is such a fabulous source of support!
My name is Kim, I am 37, and I have just started the steps needed to have WLS. I have an appointment May 9 with Dr. Michael Peters and I assume the surgery will be at Christiana.
So far, I have hit no bumps in the road, as far as my doctor being on board, and no insurance issues. I called before hand and found out I have coverage, so I'm crossing my fingers there are no hoops to jump through.
Anyway, looking forward to getting to know you all better.
Hi Ladies!
Welcome to the boards! There is a support group meeting on Saturday at 10am, PMRI..located...ok, I might need help here...Rts 52 & 100 (I think). There is a $5 charge to get in, but you will meet a lot of great people and learn valuable information for your journey.
Jump in anytime and ask questions. You both picked the best doctors around!

Hi Kim and Stacey!
Welcome to the board and welcome the beginnings of a journey towards better health!
Kim,I too had Dr. Peters and he is great. I think you will like him! And I had great support from my PCP and no problems with insurance. That is such an upbeat way to start this journey.
There are some fabulous folks here on the msg board and at support group meetings. Come on to PMRI on Saturday at 10 if you have time!!

Thanks!
You know, I'm sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop.
My PCP is the one who actually suggested I do this, his nurse had Dr. Peters...
I called my insurance and found they do indeed cover, but I didnt ask any other questions. I didn't want to discourage myself by hearing about all that it will entail. I figure I"ll cross that bridge when I get there.
I read stories here about people waiting for just a referral to the doctor for months and months. I picked up the phone and had an appointment in six weeks??
My sister works at Christiana, and I'm heartened to hear that they have a wing dedicated to WLS.
This is all very exciting!!!
