What do you want, when you don't want nothing?
Hi Everyone,
I could really use your help. I am 6wks out and have been hospitalized for dehydration 2x's. I am never hungry. I try to drink and eat as much as I can, but I just don't want anything. The recent hospital stay showed there was a narrowing between my stomach and my intestine which the doctors opened for me. That may have been some of the cause of my most recent dehydration.
I started out doing at least 2 shakes a day adding Unjury to both. This seemed to work for the first couple of weeks I was home, but it got old faster than I would have liked. I've tried adding almost every flavor of Crystal Light to water but am also tired of that taste. I am going to try ISOPURE again, I tried it before surgery and did not like it, but now I think it may be one of my only hopes for staying hydrated. Perhaps I need to spice up my life!
I've got a long way to go and really need your ideas. Please take time to send me some of your best demonstrated practices. I want to be successful at this and most of all, I want to be healthy. In this 6 wks I have taken off 41 lbs, but there is a sense of saddness in that, because I know I have also not given my body the things it needs to be healthy, which has resulted in me feeling worst than I did, before I lost the weight.
Thanks Obesity.com Family, in advance for any advise you can give.

Towanda,
Have you tried milk? Carb Countdown has 12 grams of protein per 8 oz. I still drink at least two servings a day. I use mostly the fat free, but sometimes I mix it with the 2% chocolate Carb Countdown.
Sugar free pudding with protein powder (using the carb countdown milk) may go down smoothly. I would try that also.
I added cheese to everything i could think of in the begining. Refried beans with cheese, tuna with melted cheese, scrambled egg with cheese. A smoothie maker is another good idea. Mixing the protein with fruit can camouflage the strong taste of the protein power.
I hope these ideas help. Good Luck to you. Mostly importantly keep trying and don't beat yourself up. Sometimes we go thru these periods. It will get better. Hang in there!
Best wishes,
Debbie
Hi Towanda,
I have a hard time too once in a while. I have tried Arizona Green Tea sugar free mix and found the flavor to be helpful when I need to get more fluids in. Also just plain old skim milk with Carnation Instant Breakfast Sugar Free. The protien shakes make me sick at times. I make a sunrise yummy:
1 cup plain yogurt fat free
1 scoop of unjury
1/6 cantainer of CL Sunrise drink mix
3 ice cubes
This is pack full of protein 35 grams of protein. I have to admit, I can only handle one of these once a week-2 weeks. The protein
Try yogurt, cheese, babybel lite cheese, & tuna. Please let me know how you are doing!
Take care and best of luck!

Hey Towanda -
I am so sorry to hear you are having a rough time of it. Debbie gives you great advice - believe me, I've leaned heavily on her a few times (ok a few hundred!).
One of the things I do is FF milk w/a pkg of Carnation Instant Breakfast - low carb. I do the milk chocolate and need to add 1 pkg to 20 oz of milk, this is 25 grams of carbs. Also, I do about 10 oz of the same 1/2 pkt of CIB, at night, this is another 12 grams of protein.
Two purposes here - 37 grams of protein and 30 oz of fluid! Two birds 1 stone and it TASTES GREAT! They also have vanilla, strawberry & another flavor or two.
Hope things turn around for you.
