Walking is one of the best ways to hit the road to good health. So join us for a brisk stroll on Friday, April 1, Prevention's second annual national Walk to Work Day, which promises to be even more inspiring than the 2004 blitz. Last year, thousands of people across the country moving, including mayors of some of America's top walking cities. Good Morning America tracked their progress, and the US Department of Health and Human Services named Walk to Work Day part of its national effort to get America in shape. This year, we're expecting an even bigger turnout at events all over the country. We're also a national sponsor of March of Dimes WalkAmerica 2005 (late April in most areas), which raises money to fight premature birth (to join the campaign, call 800-525-WALK). No matter how much joking you do on April 1, your health is serious business. So make time to stretch, step, walk, or climb toward a fitter you.

Seriously tho, very good, worthy causes and I hope WalkAmerica is a rousing success! Bowing to our resident exercise guru...do you have anything lined up for biking this Spring? Linda

Hoping 2005 even better than 2004... My current agenda consists of: -- April 1 WalkAmerica (Trader Joe's to Barley Mill Plaza, not sure the distance yet) -- April 24 The Savage Adventure Race up in Chester County, it's 5 miles of running, 10 miles of mountain biking, 5 miles of fla****er canoe paddling -- May 1 Mason-Dixon MS Ride in southern DE (25 or 50 miles) through Middletown and Chesapeake City -- May 21 Tour de Cure Wilmington Half Metric Century (31mi) up Route 52 and into PA -- Even more in June, July, and August... Dwight is going to join me on the Mason-Dixon ride. We are looking for other wacky people who want to get revved up and join our gastric riding team. We're not real fast, but we do have endurance, and don't eat much at the rest stops. We will be practicing all summer at a variety of rides, leading up to the MS 150 Bike to the Bay in October. Last year there were two WLS posties who participated in the big ride, so we are hoping that TEAM CHRIAS will inspire even more people to go after their miracles. If you want to post other events that might interest people, have recipes that you want to share, WLS articles, etc. you might enjoy joining my site at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ChallengeYourself/. I have set this site up to save some of the great facts that are shared by all of us, but lost in the diluge of postings. Send me an e-mail if you would like an invitation. Your bud Rob

Hi all, I'm walking this year for WalkAmerica. This time last year, I was so overweight I could not do anything. This is my way of letting my new life help others as well as myself. If anyone would like to join me, please let me know. My bank is one of the sponsors of this event. If you would like to sponsor me, that would be great also Best wishes, Deb

Well I made it! Six and a half miles to work, walking up some very unforgiving hills. But I made it. Started walking at 5am and arrived at work at 7:15am. I didn't realize how diificult it is to walk on hard pavement vs. indoor tracks. Pretty scary with cars whizzing by.... I think this will be my last non-supervised walk for a long while. It is still amazing to me the adrenalin rush you get as you accomplish something that you would have never attempted two years ago. I was feeling great for at least an hour before the work brought me back to reality. Oh well, enjoy the weekend. Your bud Rob
