I had my meetings with the nurse practitioner and the psychologist today, and passed both. Now it's just the final clearance from the PMRI doc on April 18th, as well as the last 3 LifeSkills classes and I'm on my way...33 days till surgery!!!!! Joni

Congratulations on successfully jumping another hurdle. Truly, your time will be here before you know it. I could not believe how fast time flew for me once I hit this point! If you have not already done so, time to start making sure you have all your ducks lined up and ready to go (vitamins, extra fluids, protein and etc). It will help to build/strengthen your immune system and I believe will help you with a faster and easier recovery. I also believe it is a good idea to get rid of the caffeine and sugar early on, to help avoid the withdrawal headaches associated with them while in the hospital or while you are on your pre-op liquid diet. You will be dealing with enough at those times, the last thing you want to add to the mix is a withdrawal headache. IMHO Okay, enough unsolicited advice for one day. Take it for what it is worth ... free Wishing you the best in your journey!

Thanks Tam Tam! I actually gave up caffeine, carbonated beverages and sugar about 2 months ago, and I gave up alcohol 3 months ago. I've also been getting 70 oz of fluid per day and have been working out on my recumbant bike 30 minutes per day, 5 times per week. In addition I've been trying WLS recipes from a cookbook that I bought, eating the food in both solid and pureed form, and I've been trying different protein shakes. I've also been doing breathing exercises to prepare my pulmonary system for the surgery, and I just ordered the Optisource vitamins. By doing all of this, and following the diet we were given in the LifeSkills class, I've already lost 20 lbs, so I'm well on my way. Thanks again for your advice, it's much appreciated! Solicited or not, advice from post-ops is always welcome!!! Joni
