Brown Sugar Subtitute
I tried the Sugar Twin Brown Sugar and have to tell you it was awful! So, I wrote to the Slenda folks to ask if they eventually plan to make a brown sugar version. Currently, they have no plan for this, however they sent me this recipe to use when you have a recipe calls for brown sugar. I wanted to share it with all of you.

FYI. There is also a Brown Sugar substitute available from bariatriceating.com or you can go straight to their website. It is manufactured by Nature Sweet. On the downside, it is made with malitol (a sugar alcohol) and only comes in 2-lb packages and costs about $13. But it seems like a lot of posties use it in their recipies and don't seem to have problems. Of course, maybe many posties look forward to the laxative side effect.

Hey LB, I did use the brown sugar substitute in my sweet potatoe casarole recipe for Thanksgiving. I remember I added the splenda coated nut recipe to it too. As I recall, it was very yummy and I didn't miss not having my candied yams. But it was alot and I remember giving most of it away cause Charlie hates sweet potatoes and I hate left overs now. I need to cut down on the recipe next time or I'll be throwing away food again. IT IS OKAY TO THROW AWAY FOOD. I passed the Emotional Eating class on Monday night with Lisa Pistone. Elissa
Susane,
I'll bring the nuts to the next meeting. Then again I'm sure some of the nuts will just show up. And I'll get the recipe too. It was on Tam Tam's profile. However she had her profile site changed, so I couldn't cut & paste. Almonds, walnuts and pecans. Egg white & splenda. Spices include cinnamon & nutmeg. Gosh I will have to look it up. Put everything on a baking sheet and bake at 250 degrees for about 45 minutes. Remind me if I forget will ya. This is a good, high protein, crunchy snack. Elissa
