BLOCKED STOMA LAST NITE!!!!?????
Okay this is weird. I took a pill last nite. A pain pill. My doctor gave them to me when I came home from surgery and I cut them up and took them with no problem. Well, I have a bum hip and I couldn't sleep and tylenol wasn't doing it so I got a pill, cut it up and threw it in my mouth and washed it down with crystal lite tea. About 20 minutes or less later, I had a pain in the middle of my little stomach like I had an ulcer. I got up and drank a little and it went away for a couple of minutes. Then came back. I got up and ate a little piece of cheese and drank some tea; went away and came back and finally the third time I got up and drank a little more tea and about 2 minutes later pain went away for good. What a sensation. I must have been wrong by swallowing all the pieces of the pill together and drinking only a smallamount of liquid. Thats all I can think of. Any thoughts. I'm fine now. But for about 1-1/2 hours I was in agony. Never again will I do that. I feel great this AM and have had coffee with no problems. All is clear I guess. Is that what i did? Since it got better when I drank or ate a little something and then maybe pushed through and dissolved on the third shot. Thanks a bunch
Hi Nancy, How are you feeling now? Okay I hope. Lots of weird feelings after eating certain foods. Noises and kicks and weird things going on especially if I eat too fast. If it persists call your Dr and explain what is going on.
I read your profile. I had that dizzy light headed, tired, feeling about 5 wks out and it was my BP. It went to 100/40. Dr said to not take my 2 BP drugs anymore. What a relief. I was better in no time. Course I had a urinary tract infection about the same time. Felt like a horse kicked me in the back. Antibiotics took care of that within a couple days. We just have to get used to all these new feelings and sensations. God Bless. Elissa
Hi Nancy:
You certainly could have blocked the stoma, especially if it is a small opening. If this continues to happen, especially with food -- go to the doctor right away and INSIST on an EDG to check the opening size. This happened to me a lot (read my profile).. sounds like what happened to me very early on. Some patients heal very quickly and develop scar tissue around the stoma which closes it in and makes stomach emptying very difficult - even for liquids in severe cases. Just keep an eye on the situation and don't prolong your agony if it happens again, or more importantly, more frequently. I suffered too long needlessly, am great now and am enjoying life. If it happens again and you need someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to e-mail me.
Fondly, Brenda
