OK, for those that may or may not heard this little ditty yet... I'm telling on myself but this was just a little highpoint of my day yesterday. I drove my daughter Ashley and her friends to Kahunaville for a concert that they wanted to see. I was the 'drive-to' parent, her friend Lauren's mom, was the 'drive-back'. Little did I realize that driving there would be so adventurous! First of all, I know that the exit was Maryland Ave. What I didn't know is that we had to take a left and not a right onto Maryland Ave to get to the Riverfront and Kahunaville. So...Karen ends up driving ALL over Wilmington (friendly little city it is, what with all the one-way streets and confusing on/off ramps....arrrgghhh!), still looking for signs that would direct her and her precious little entourage to their destination. Deeply engrossed in looking for these signs (hey, it was dark out, the music was loud, there was a lot of talking/laughing...distractions, OK?! distractions!), Karen happened to, uh, totally miss this overhanging red light. Immediately, there was a bright 'pop' and flash of light. I was like, "what was that?!", while Ashley was like, "uh, Mom, I think that that was a red light". NO! I couldn't believe it!!! ME, zero points, no tickets, no traffic violations whatsoever, Ms. Goody Twoshoes, just arbitrarily and capriciously RAN a totally red light. OMG! What a rebel I've become in my old age! lol (Oh, did I tell you it was my b-day Monday?? SOME of you already know that...) lol (Fortunately, on a safety sidenote, the streets was totally deserted...[have u seen the streets of Wilmington after 6??] and this did not turn out worse then it did. ) ANYHOW....after many twist and turns, a long turnabout on I-95 (gotta love them on/off ramps) and much laughter and muttering (oh, ok...it was muttered profanity--I admit it!), we finally arrived at our destination and my little campers were happy. (actually, they bolted from the car...but can ya really blame 'em?). I sincerely doubt I'll be elected to be the 'drive-to' parent again... And we could've just left it there, you know. Never speak of it again, just pay the darn $100 ticket when it comes in, let it go, just let bygones be bygones. But, nooooo. When I woke up this morning and went to the computer, coffee in hand, to read my daily news/horoscope/email, what to my wondering (and still sleepy) eyes should appear? My daughter's humorous picture immortalized on my computer desktop (artistic rendering sent to the MSN site...). Apparently the little elves were busy after Mom went to bed. Where DOES that child get her warped sense of humor?? I have my suspicions...and I sincerely think it's her dad's side of the family genes. Anyhow, hope you all have a wonderful day!! (((hugs))) -Karen

OMG! Karen, I laughed so hard reading this! I'm Wilmington illiterate as well! I quake with fear when I have to go in town and act like I've never seen/heard of it before. Although, I can get myself to Kahuanaville and the Riverfront, that is it! Can't get any further with out a meltdown. Glad you made out ok, sorry about the pending ticket.... Take care, Valerie

Hi Karen. Don't know how I missed your post. OH lovely Wilmington. And a ticket too. I could have taken you To the Big K, but I'm not sure if I could have given you good enough directions to keep you from getting lost. ((HUGS)) Elissa
