Phone Charge while in the hospital

Hello everyone, I was talking to verizon today because I am thinking about switching to Cavalier. Come to find out while I was in the hospital for surgery I was charged a phone fee of $10.30. The verizon rep. told me it is probably for having the use of their phone, but they should have told me about it. So I would check your phone bill, to see if you were also charged for this. Christie

Can they charge you for accepting incoming calls? I hope not

Lysa, I had the charge when I was in (a while back) but was told that it was an access? charge to call out. My only outgoing calls were to my mom on an 800 number or on a calling card. I don't think they charge for incoming calls when I was in, but it wouldn't hurt to call and check to see what they are doing now. Yep, Christie, I was a bit surprised at the charge also. But have to admit it was nice having my phone in the hospital. The incoming calls really helped me stay focused and on track. Tammy

Hi Christie. Evidently if you don't want to incur phone charges during your hospital stay, it is in the admitting papers and posted in each room??Don't remember seeing this info, but I'm told it is on the board where the nurses put their names in each room. You are directed to call ext 6777 and leave your name and room number that you don't want tele charges billed to you. Evidently there is a flat charge of $10.30. You can still make local calls. If you have a phone card you can make long distance calls. And if you email me directly I will give you the name and extension of the lady that you can talk to that can accomodate the charges. Tell her you were not told any of this. It will be a hardship to you and she can erase the charges. There used to be a charge for the TV also. Per day $4.00. Most patients did not carry $$$ on them so they stopped those charges awhile back. OBTW I switched to Cavalier about a year ago. Not a bad deal. Cheap and all the horns & whistles are included. Give them the name of a person that has it and they should get credits of $25.00. Elissa
