I am enclosing the link it you want to read it online. http://www.delawareonline.com/newsjournal/health/2005/02/22bariatricsurger.html I am not sure if it is meant to be positive or negative about the surgery. What do you think? Ellen

Hi Ellen, After reading the article I'm not sure if it's meant to be positive or negative either, heck I don't think THEY know how they meant it I find it to contain alot of partial truths and the usual statistics people are so fond of throwing around. If it's wonderful and fabulous, there will always be those in the wings waiting to pick it apart...if it's scary and dangerous, there will be those screaming from the rooftops how horrible something is. Too bad there is no happy medium, the truth usually lies somewhere in between the two extremes in most things, not just WLS. That 1 in 50 statistic is the one that bugs me, people see that and think OMG, what are you thinking?? I say well, I sit in a room full of people every month that shoots that particular statistic in the foot everytime. people don't want to hear about the everyday success stories that contain no drama, it's not interesting and it doesn't sell papers or get ratings. I take it all with a grain of salt. Linda

I took it as a good... Especially when they pointed out that no one has statistics on all surgeries. It just seems that WLS is getting all the attention. Like the patient said... you could die from a blood clot from any type of surgery, plus the risk of getting put under is with any surgery.

I'm still checking in daily... I may not post as often though. You'll never get rid of me!!! Anyway, I'm almost 2 1/2 years out and I've lost a total of 124 lbs. I've maintained my same weight for the past year. I've done extremely well, I had all my problems in the beginning and got them out of the way!!! lol So, how have you been?
